Life on the Edge

My wife recently released me for a 3 day weekend, allowing me the opportunity to take a trip north to the mountain biker promised land of Fruita and a 4 to 5 hour ride on the Edge Loop. Fall was rapidly giving way to winter. I tossed an invite to the usual scoundrels but was able only to wrangle up one cohort for the expedition. The launch time was delayed because I wanted to catch my daughters last soccer game. When the game wrapped up I caught up with my riding partner at the house. We loaded the bikes and hit the road north. We got into the camp at around 9:00pm. I popped the top on the...

I first stumbled across their shop while exploring Manhattan.  Saturdays used to be reserved for walking the streets and uncovering places that nobody knew about, nor had heard of.  These were places not written about, or listed in directories, these were the places you had to walk...

Cafe Paris, Reykjavík, Iceland

If you ever find yourself with an layover in Reykjavík, Iceland, head over to Cafe Paris.  Iceland is a coffee-centric culture, it seems to be everywhere.  (must be the weather) Not only are there numerous coffee shops, but shopkeepers will often have a pot brewing in the corner.   I found myself walking down the main street, cold, wet and hungry, I needed a place to warm up.  Cafe Paris was on the corner, so I hurried in.  I hadn’t read the reviews, I didn’t realize that it’s a traveler’s destination, I was just needed hot coffee. That day I had a sweet tooth and...
